NYC Adventure!

So, i went to New York City. It was awesome. I was woken up at 4:00 AM and told that I have 7 minutes to pack some things to take with me. We found out that we were going to NYC. About 7 hours later we get there and the adventures began. Well, without having a map of how to get there, just an address, and the brakes going out in the car, getting there was an adventure in itself. In the city however, I did some things that I never have before.  We worked at a soup kitchen/pantry for homeless people with a group of muslims and jews, did open ministry at some parks, walked around Times Square, went to the Times Square church, and helped to clean at a pregnancy center. I was dragged out of my comfort zone a lot over those 4 days. It made me grow a little stronger in my own will and the will of God. He pushed me to take action and be bold and do what he tells me too. I talked to some people and prayed for them, and I don’t usually do that to strangers. It was really awesome to see a group of people go to a big city and care about the people there and try to make a difference, even if it might be a small one. It was awesome to see God provide for us financially and spiritually while we were there, and to see a little bit of the poverty, the brokeness, and the lost. You can’t leave that place with out having a softer heart then when you went in. So overall.  it was a really good time and I can’t wait to go back!

What were you meant to have in life? Are you always supposed to know?  The part of life that you’re holding on to, clinging to, waiting for, that is what holds you back. You stand there with open arms, hands empty, waiting for what you expect, depend on, and live for to drop in. Life is never sure, and it’s never guaranteed, why should you be? There comes a point when you just have to say “I don’t know”. Stop standing there waiting for things to come to you. Reach out and grab something, take a risk, because without risk there is no moving forward. Chances will come and go that could be better than what you think you need to have or do. There is no security in life, only oppertunities.

God’s Dance Party at Sears!

February 6, 2010 at 2:27 pm (Uncategorized)

So God has built a mall.  He took me, left me in the food court, and gave me a survival pack.  He said, “here is a map that comes with directions for what to do, a walkie talkie to get a hold of me if you need help or even just a little company, a bottle of strength that never runs out, and everything else you will ever need for your mission. I am having a party at Sears in the coat section, so i want you to come and meet me there. Spread the word,  gather as much people as you can, and bring them here. We’ll all hang out and have a rockin dance party!”

So i take my map and my survival pack and set off on my mission. I know exactly what I am supposed to do, how I’m supposed to do it, and why its important for me to stick diligently to my task.  It’s all written down with specific instructions right on my map….i like to call it my Bible. Well, I’m journeying along but  i keep getting distracted. I see Pac Sun and decide to stop and buy a t-shirt. Next thing i know, it’s been days and im still wandering around the store looking at the temptations; the jeans, hats, and shirts…meanwhile, having done nothing to progress in my path that i have been called for.

This is my life. i know what to do, but sometimes i forget that i am supposed to do it.  i know i have a walkie talkie to communicate with, but sometimes i forget to use it. The thing i will never forget though, is that whenever i lose sight and get distracted, my walkie talkie will never run out of battery, and my mission will always be my mission.  God has changed me and set me down on this path with a purpose, for the last path he steered me away from was purposeless. i have my map, my bottle of strength, and my reward always and forever waiting for me at Sears, no matter how many stops I make along the way. So bring it on!!
